AFTERNOON TEA

Our afternoon tea menu is different each day. The dishes shown here cover all of the regular repertoire. But we may serve something not on this list as a new or seasonal addition. If you have allergen or dietary concerns, please ask us for details of the exact menu for the day. Note we can, with notice, adapt the menu for most dietary needs, including vegetarian,  gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan.

NOTE.
The Tea menu change daily, depending upon the season, however listed below are the regular items offered. If you have allergen or dietary concerns, please ask us for details. Please note, we can cater for gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan guests providing that we have 24 hours’ notice.

​ORGANIC UNSWEETENED SOYA MILK
Contains soya milk. Gluten-free, vegan. (Can be substituted for dairy milk in drinks.)

GLUTEN-FREE BREAD
Contains egg – cooked, milk – cow’s. Gluten-free, vegetarian. (Can replace any regular bread or toast item.)

A SELECTION OF SANDWICHES

SMOKED SALMON AND CREAM CHEESE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, milk – cheese (no rennet used), smoked fish. Non-meat.

HAM WITH MAYONNAISE AND MUSTARD
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – raw, pasteurised, mustard, pork – cured.

EGG WITH MAYONNAISE AND CRESS
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – raw, pasteurised. Minor amount of mustard. Vegetarian. (The main egg ingredient is fully cooked, but the mayonnaise is made with raw pasteurised egg.)

ROAST BEEF WITH HORSERADISH
Contains gluten – wheat flour, beef. Minor amount of milk – cream.

A SELECTION OF SAVOURY PASTRIES

QUICHE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cheese – cow’s, onion.

HOISIN DUCK SOMOSA
Contains gluten – wheat flour, soy sauce (minor gluten source), sulphur dioxide. Minor amount of onion.

SAUSAGE ROLL
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, pork.

CORONATION CHICKEN
Contains Minor amount of egg – raw, pasteurised, mustard, celery, sulphur dioxide – dried fruit.

SHALLOT MUFFINS
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cheese – cow’s.

FRESHLY-BAKED CAKES AND PASTRIES

WARM SCONE WITH STRAWBERRY JAM AND A CHOICE OF CLOTTED CREAM, WHIPPED CREAM OR BUTTER
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cream. Vegetarian.

LUMBERJACK CAKE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cow’s, sulphur dioxide – dried fruit. Vegetarian.

PROFITEROLES
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cow’s, sulphur dioxide. Vegetarian.

CHEESECAKE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – butter. Vegetarian.

RASPBERRY/STRAWBERRY TOWER
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cream. Vegetarian.

CUSTARD SLICE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – cream. Vegetarian.

STOUT CAKE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – butter, sulphur dioxide – dried fruit. Vegetarian.

MERINGUE WITH TOPPING/FILLING
Contains egg white – cooked, milk – butter. Vegetarian.

ROULADE
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, milk – butter. Vegetarian.

BARA BRITH
Contains gluten – wheat flour, egg – cooked, sulphur dioxide – dried fruit. Minor amount of alcohol. Vegetarian.

ALLERGENS, DIETARY NEEDS AND OPTIONS

The 2014 ‘EU Regulation 1169/2011’ lists 14 major allergen groups. In alphabetical order they are:

  • Celery and celeriac
  • Cereals containing gluten, e.g. wheat
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Lupin (seed and flour, but not often seen as a culinary ingredient in the UK)
  • Milk
  • Molluscs
  • Mustard
  • Peanuts
  • Sesame seeds
  • Shellfish
  • Soya
  • Sulphur dioxide (used as antioxidant and preservative, e.g. wine especially white wines, dried fruits)
  • Tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc.)
